Hollywood, Baby: The Making of “Retreated”
When adventure calls, we answer. This time, Camp Yoshi met Hollywood… and allergy season.
The making of the Retreated ZYRTEC® series was an exciting experience for the crew and everyone involved. ZYRTEC® called upon Camp Yoshi's expertise to help stage and create our world on camera for their latest branded content series. ZYRTEC® also recruited the help of Kevin Hart’s multi-platform media company, Hartbeat, as a production partner to bring their comedic vision to life, and kick off the Spring allergy season. The crew was excited to be a part of a project that brought the outdoors to those who may have been robbed of that opportunity in the past due to seasonal allergies.
On set, it was a beautiful marriage of skill and talents that came together to create a warm, relatable, and humorous campaign. The two-day shoot was filled with setting up outdoor scenes, mud trudging, and certainly no shortage of laughter or takes. The energy on set was palpable and irresistible, thanks to ZYRTEC® and Hartbeat's brilliantly selected talent, including B Daht, Jessie Woo, Blameitonkway, and Leo González.
The shoot involved various locations throughout the large, 150 acres of lush green, mountainous canyon countryside. On multiple occasions, our crew acted as stunt drivers, using our off-roading expertise to ferry cast and crew around the unpredictable terrain, in and around the shoot site. There were moments where we were called to be on screen, and all throughout we worked closely with the art department to portray an authentic camp set-up for the talent to occupy.
The making of the Retreated series was a memorable experience for countless reasons. We continue to be recognized for our unique perspective and approach to the outdoors, and even more so as a part of a project for a brand that believes in the same thing we do– make the outdoors more accessible for everyone. It was a wonderful example of how various groups of talented individuals can come together and create something truly special.
