FAQs

  • We have received a lot of questions wondering if Camp Yoshi’s adventures are exclusively for the Black community. Absolutely NOT. Our adventures are available to anyone and everyone of all backgrounds. However, our social goal will always be to get Black folks to the wilderness. So, if you are an ally who would like to be a part of Camp Yoshi’s experiences, please join us - we welcome you!!!

  • Yes, Camp Yoshi still got you! Just let us know in the special requests/additional info section of the booking form and we will make accommodations to ensure that you still “eat good” all trip long!

  • All costs listed on our site are the total per person and all-inclusive (excluding travel to the meetup point and additional accommodations not other-wise listed)

  • Not at this time.

  • In case of an emergency we have satellite phones with SOS features. We also have insurance coverage for up to $100,000 for each camper. Each vehicle will be equipped with an emergency medical kit. Lastly, each trip will have a CPR Certified camp guide.

  • It means you’re responsible for your clothing, toiletries, and transportation to get to the meeting spot. Yoshi’s got you when it comes to the adventure, tents, sleep kits, excursions, food, drinks and good times!

  • The Camp Sleep Kit includes premium sleeping bag, pillow, blanket, head lamp, and a sleeping pad that serves as the foundational piece that supplies extra cushion and insulation between the ground and sleeping bag. At this time we do not supply cots or air mattresses for our adventures.

  • Honestly bruh, its nature. Since we’re entering their home, there’s no way Yoshi can guarantee there will be no wildlife run-ins. But for protection, camp guides carry bear spray, and most importantly Yoshi practices Leave No Trace where we responsibly dispose of trash and food, which is the #1 cause of most animal encounters. Also, we are experienced in the pre-vetted areas that we will be visiting.

  • Showering opportunities vary from trip to trip. We offer a limited supply of Shower Pouches (we highly recommend these) and if available you’re more than welcome to shower in creeks and lakes along the route. Be sure to bring biodegradable soap and we recommend extra camping shower wipes.

  • Pop up restroom tents will be set up at each campsite. Every now and then, we camp in locations where restrooms are available.

  • At this time, we do not offer any experiences that can accommodate pets.

  • You’re more than welcome to bring your phone, but we believe the wilderness is best experienced when completely present. Our amazing team will be capturing lots of images, which you’ll have access to post-trip, via an emailed link. We will not, however, be conducting any personal photoshoots. Lastly, we’ll have Satellite phones for any emergency inbound or outbound calls.

  • All campers must be 21+ unless otherwise stated.

  • Before every trip, campers receive info packs which include a full packing list, saving you all the guessing work.

  • Definitely, these trips are absolutely for you. Not only will you enjoy a new experience, but you’ll learn so many camping basics that will equip you to go forth and create your own adventures. And no worries, we’ll be sharing a campers guide on what to bring, what to expect, and so much more.

  • Man, what?! Absolutely not. You haven’t camped like us. Our experiences are designed to give all experience levels a fun, unique and exhilarating adventure. Our itinerary is built based on years of experience.

  • We carry a legal firearm and bear spray for protection. More importantly, we are experienced in the pre-vetted areas we are visiting and take precautions to ensure safety. We are big supporters of Leave No Trace principles, where we responsibly dispose of trash and food, which is the number 1 cause of most animal encounters.

  • We provide one-person tents for each camper. Two-person tents are available upon request.

  • If you have any luggage, there will be secure storage available. We’ll provide guides on what to bring, but please note that you’ll only need a backpack or medium size duffle. Wheeled luggage such as a suitcase is highly unadvised.

  • All belongings you bring will need to fit in the backpack or medium duffle bag. We provide suggestions specific to each trip. Any additional bags will be stored securely. The chase truck will carry your sleeping bag and ground pad. Everything else will be in your pack.
