  • 1 x Hiking / waterproof boots: Expect plenty of walking and hiking so these will come in handy. Adidas Terrex, Nike ACG and Hoka make great waterproof hiking shoes. The paths/trails will often get wet and muddy. You will need some proper hiking or waterproof boots to ensure your feet are comfortable and dry.

1 x Trainers: after a long day of excursions you’re going to want to put on a comfortable casual pair of footwear for the evening at the hotel or heading out to dinner. Having a spare pair of comfortable shoes is always a good idea, especially if the others get too wet to be worn

1 x Flip flops: These will be necessary for going to the thermal hot springs for our spa day, it will be easier if you have them.

2 x Leggings: We always recommend leggings or biker shorts for every CY adventure. They are super comfy, especially if we’re out all day hiking and exploring. Also, they are so tight they can easily fit under another pair of trousers if the weather is really cold or wet. You’ll want to take more than one in case they get wet or dirty.

1 x Waterproof pants: The rain is frequent in Iceland. Plus, we’re planning to visit a lot of waterfalls. These will come in handy. You can wear them over performance pants or leggings and will be sure to stay dry under.

3 x Thermal shirts: Like the thermal shirts you wear under layers of clothing while skiing, they will keep you nice and warm. Smart wool is a great brand to consider.

1 x Light waterproof jacket: You will need a waterproof jacket. Even if it doesn’t rain, we’re planning on getting close to some of the waterfalls like Gullfoss and Dynjandi, the spray from them is enough to get you very wet. Layering is key for all of our adventures and especially in Iceland. We prefer wearing heavy hoodies and light jackets, since if it’s warm but rainy you can take off your hoodie but still have a waterproof jacket. With heavy coats if it gets too warm and you take it off that’s your water protection gone.

1 x Heavy hoodie & 1 x light hoodie: It will most likely be cold, which means you will want a heavy hoodie or jumper of some sort. However you want to also bring a lighter one for when you will be indoors, for example having dinner or around our hotels. Each day is different so it’s good to have both options, so that you can dress lighter or warmer depending on the weather. Our Camp Yoshi Fleece system is a great piece for those cozy comfy evenings after a long day of awesome adventure.

1 x Scarf: You will want something to wrap around your neck and face when the wind picks up and it feels very chilly. Our camp gurus often wear a Khadafi.

1 x Gloves: These aren’t essential, but they don’t take up a lot of space in your luggage, so why risk getting cold hands? I have a pair that you can still use with touch screen phones, a must if you want to take pictures and wear gloves at the same time!

First aid kit: Better safe than sorry! CY always carries one but if you choose to bring a personal kit we recommend Welly.

Sleeping mask: The midnight sun is beautiful, but it might cause some trouble sleeping.

Bathing suit: Thermal pools are a big part of this trip. Plus some hotels will have pools. Bring a bathing suit so you can enjoy them

    Fast drying towel: bring it!

Cash for Tipping: In general it's not customary to tip in Iceland, however it is also not illegal or rude to tip in these places either. Have cash to tip our guides and drivers if you feel the desire.
